Scheduling Process


Find your scheduling information here!

STEP 1:

Get Informed!

Check out the school's scheduling website to find out information about a variety of courses.

Take a look at the Education Planning Guide.

Think about the courses you are interested in taking and make sure that you have met the pre-requisites for those courses.

Talk to your teachers to help determine what are some of the next classes you should be taking.  (This is particularly important for math!)

Ed Planning Guide 2025-26

STEP 2:

You will log in to PowerSchool in order to request your courses for next year.

Check that you have at least 8 credits worth of space chosen.  Make sure you are taking care of your required credits.  There are descriptors in each area.  If you have any questions, please reach out to your school counselor:

Cowan - A - E

Gray - F - K

Pruss - L - Rh

Wiegand - Ri - Z


STEP 3:

Please take time to look at all the applications listed below and complete any and all that apply prior to meeting with your counselor.  This will help to make the scheduling process a much smoother one.

Senior Waiver/ Dual Enrollment - (for juniors and seniors only):

STEP 1: Meet with RSHS counselor to finalize your RSHS schedule choices
STEP 2: Attend the Dual Enrollment Information Night - (to be announced)
STEP 3: Complete the Application Packet (pick up in Guidance)
  • DE/WAIVER APPLICATION
    1. Complete personal information at the top
    2. Check or fill in the courses you wish to take (see chart on reverse side)
    3. Student AND Parent sign & initial where indicated
  • CONSENT TO RELEASE
    1. Complete personal information at the top
    2. Bottom portion is Rising Sun High & your parent/guardian
  • CCPS to CECIL SCHOLARSHIP FORM
    1. Students who have achieved CCR status will have courses paid for.
    2. Students who have NOT achieved CCR status may opt to take courses at their own cost (may receive a 25% discount on course fees)
STEP 4: Turn in Application Packet to Mrs. Pruss in Guidance by May 5th!
STEP 5: Apply to Cecil College www.cecil.edu/hsapply
  • You will receive an email with your acceptance letter including student ID and My Cecil Login
  • Log in to your My Cecil account and set up your Seahawk email
STEP 6: Register for Cecil College Courses 
  • Taking Courses at RSHS (onsite)
    1. Turn in application paperwork to Mrs. Pruss
    2. Apply to Cecil College (link above)
    3. Set up MyCecil Account and Seahawk email account
    4. Check Seahawk email for information and instructions on enrollments and ordering your books
  • Taking Courses at Cecil College (on campus or online)
    1. Meet with Quanette Ford to register for those courses - check emails for a link to schedule an appointment with Quanette.
    2. Provide a copy of your Cecil College Schedule to Mrs. Pruss by July 1st.
STEP 7: Request your textbooks 
  • Order and pay through the Cecil College Bookstore
  • Information will be sent to your Seahawk email

Junior/Senior Option (for Juniors and Seniors only):

Early Graduation - (for sophomores going into their junior year only) - First you must download the Early Graduation application.  Then meet with your counselor as soon as possible.
